The students did a fantastic job this week finishing up STAAR testing even with the 1 day internet delay. I was a proud principal of their hard work.
Many people ask when we get results. Here is the timeline.
5/29: Admin gets PASS/ FAIL results.
- Admin spends Friday, May 29th, calling ONLY students who failed Language Arts and Math.
- Admin will provide summer school information.
Wednesday, June 3rd: Summer school begins.

This year, PTO will be offering an amazing opportunity for you to order your student's school supplies. This is a win-win.
- All supplies match the District's school supply list.
- The price is comparable to nearby stores.
- Delivered to your student's classroom by the first day of school.
- Proceeds will go to the PTO/ school as a fundraiser.
- Warranty of supplies such as headphones.
We hope that our families enjoy this new, fun way to be ready for the school year with no fuss, and to also raise money for the school.

This week, your student will come home with a flyer informing you of all of the amazing summer sports camps that the high school offers in the summer.
Register and enjoy some community fun with soccer, football, tennis, etc.
Coach Miller, the girls' soccer team, and the basketball team talked to the students about this at Friday's assembly.

Camp is less than a month away, and we’re filling up much faster than we did last year. If you’ve been thinking about signing up, now is the time—spots are going quickly.
This year’s camp centers around Frozen KIDS, where students will bring the story of Anna and Elsa to life on stage. Campers will perform scenes and songs from the show, including “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” “Love Is an Open Door,” and “Let It Go,” while learning choreography, blocking, and character work throughout the week.
What makes this camp different? Our high school theatre students treat it with the same level of focus and commitment as their main stage productions and their state-qualifying shows. They bring that same preparation and care into working with these campers, creating an environment where kids are supported, challenged, and part of a real production process. This isn’t your typical kids' summer camp.
By the end of the week, students will take the stage in a fully produced performance—complete with costumes, staging, and storytelling they’ve built together.
Make sure your student doesn’t miss out!

We appreciate your ongoing support in helping your child succeed in school. One of the most important ways to set them up for success is by making sure they are at school every day and on time.
We understand that mornings can be busy and that illnesses do happen. If your child is feeling unwell, of course, we want them to rest and recover. But if they’re feeling well, being at school and arriving on time gives them the best chance to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
Here are our attendance policies:
- Our school day begins at 7:45 AM.
- Any arrival after 8:00 AM or before the end of the school day is considered a partial absence and will count as unexcused unless you have a medical/ counselor note.
- If your child is sick, please call the school nurse or office to notify us. They can be excused by a medical professional or by our nurse, Mrs. Garrett, if she assesses them.
- If your child is absent, notify the school by phone or email. The district policy will allow up to 3 excused "notified" absences for things like unexpected sicknesses.
- To have an absence excused by a professional, bring to school or email (ssims@mfisd.org) a note from a doctor, dentist, or counselor.
For unexcused absences:
You will receive an automated district email when your child has three unexcused absences. After five to seven unexcused absences, you'll get another notification and a call from the school to sign a Truancy Prevention Form. On the 10th unexcused absence, your child is considered truant.
This policy applies to all students enrolled in public school, ages 3 and older.
If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Carpenter or Mrs. Brantley. Let's work together to ensure your child is on time and ready to learn!

Students will be released at 3:15 pm.
RIDE CHANGES: If you have a ride change, notify Sarah Sims at ssims@mfisd.org.
Send a ride change email BEFORE 2:45pm.
PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE EVERY TIME THERE IS A CHANGE. Following this procedure for ride changes is necessary to ensure that students go to the correct pick-up place for dismissal.
