Thriving in the hive

"Better Together in the Hive."

Bee-ing Extraordinary

🐝 Brantley Notes:

I know this past week and weekend has been hard for our SWE family.   I am so incredibly proud of the love and support that our families, students, and staff have for each other.

I will be off campus on Monday for an eye appt. starting at 3pm and also all day Tuesday for my monthly Central Office meeting. Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Copeland will be at school if you need anything.

This statement really fits our campus right now; as always, we are better together in the hive.

Warmly,
Principal Brantley 💜💛

Homecoming

It was fun to see all of the Homecoming dress up last week.  The kids looked spectacular in their Cowboy, USA, Mustangs, and Throwback gear!

September is Attendance Month

During the month of September, SWE is doing some fun incentives to encourage both perfect attendance and attendance that reaches over our SWE goal of 96%.

We will do competitions, such as  "Build a Bee," and also have "Surprise Attendance Days."

Let's "Bee present!"

Side Note: We do understand and encourage students to stay home when they are sick.

5th grade won the Attendance of the week!

They had the best overall attendance at 97.7%!!!!

PJ Day for 5th grade is this Friday!

Battle of the Cans

This year, it will only be Marble Falls ISD collecting.    As a school, Mrs. Gage had a great idea to build a large structure using collected cans.   We can work together to build it and display it in the lobby.

This will start on Sept. 30th and go for 2 weeks.

Read-A-Thon

Our school Read-A-Thon has started.

Right now, your kiddos are to READ, READ. READ!

Spicewood Elementary readers are rounding the corner to the finish line.

We are only $300 from reaching the goal of $10,000.  This is amazing.

We are so proud of them! Would you please share Read-A-Thon with all your friends and family to support our hardworking readers one last time?

Our readers want to finish strong!

Thanks so much,
Spicewood Elementary

BEE Present

We appreciate your ongoing support in helping your child succeed in school. One of the most important ways to set them up for success is by making sure they are at school every day and on time.

We understand that mornings can be busy and that illnesses do happen. If your child is feeling unwell, of course, we want them to rest and recover. But if they’re feeling well, being at school and arriving on time gives them the best chance to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Here are our attendance policies:

·      Our school day begins at 7:45 AM.
  • Any arrival after 8:00 AM or before the end of the school day is considered a partial absence and will count as unexcused unless you have a medical/ counselor note.
  • If your child is sick, please call the school nurse or office to notify us. They can be excused by a medical professional or by our nurse G. if she assesses them.
  • If your child is absent, notify the school by phone or email. The district policy will allow up to 3 excused "notified" absences for things like unexpected sicknesses.
  • To have an absence excused by a professional, bring to school or email (ssims@mfisd.org) a note from a doctor, dentist, or counselor.

For unexcused absences:
You will receive an automated district email when your child has three unexcused absences. After five to seven unexcused absences, you'll get another notification and a call from the school to sign a Truancy Prevention Form. On the 10th unexcused absence, your child is considered truant.

This policy applies to all students enrolled in public school, ages 3 and older.

If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Carpenter. Let's work together to ensure your child is on time and ready to learn!
