The Spicewood Spark

February 15, 2026

The theme "Ignite Your Brain" for Spicewood with a picture of an electrifying brain.

Brantley's Bright Spots

This was such a busy week on campus. From service projects to parties, the campus was buzzing with activity.

The staff really appreciated the "LOVE NOTES" that were sent out on Friday. It was truly heart warming to feel the love from so many.

The next couple of weeks will be busy as we prepare for STEAM Day, Music Performances, Literacy Night, Family in Fitness, Middle School choices sheets, and the end of the grading period.

Thanks for all of your support with each of these projects. From staff to students to families to the community, we come together to do some amazing projects. I personally appreciate all of you.

Rick Edward's Day of Service

On Friday, our SWE campus community came together to celebrate people, our community, and our Earth on REDS Day.

Student Council painted a picnic table alongside the other elementary campuses for the Marble Falls Library.

Each SWE classroom decorated a recycling box to kick off our new recycling project.

Every SWE student decorated a bookmark that will be gifted, alongside a book, to the Marble Falls Helping Center.

Classrooms did all sorts of other projects, as well. It was truly a day of service and love.

Kindness Week

It was KINDNESS Week. Mrs. Copeland tasked students with focusing on being kind to others.

Purple tickets were handed out and names were drawn on Friday for fun prizes.

Great job, Spicewood! Way to be kind!

SRO Day

Officer Paz was celebrated on Friday. We appreciate all that he does for our campus.

🩺 Nurse’s Corner: Staying Healthy at School
Keeping our school community healthy is a team effort! Here are some simple ways students and families can help reduce the spread of illness:
🧼 Wash Hands Often
  • Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after using the restroom.
  • If soap and water aren’t available, use hand sanitizer with help from an adult.
🤧 Cover Coughs & Sneezes
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or elbow, not hands.
  • Throw tissues away right after use and wash hands.
🚫 Don’t Share Personal Items
  • Please don’t share water bottles, food, utensils, lip balm, hats, brushes, or combs.
  • Label personal items to help avoid mix-ups.
🪮 Prevent the Spread of Lice
  • Avoid head-to-head contact during play, reading, or group activities.
  • Do not share hats, hair accessories, headphones, helmets, or brushes.
  • Check your child’s hair regularly, especially if there is an increase in lice in the community.
🏡 Stay Home When Sick
  • If your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or isn’t feeling well, keep them home to rest and recover.
  • Returning to school when healthy helps protect friends and teachers.
đź’§ Healthy Habits Matter
  • Get plenty of sleep, eat nutritious foods, and drink lots of water.
  • Encourage kids to tell an adult if they’re not feeling well.
Thank you for helping keep our school a happy, healthy place to learn! Please contact the school nurse with any health questions or concerns.

Grow Your Brain - Be in School - On Time, Every Day!

We appreciate your ongoing support in helping your child succeed in school. One of the most important ways to set them up for success is by making sure they are at school every day and on time.

We understand that mornings can be busy and that illnesses do happen. If your child is feeling unwell, of course, we want them to rest and recover. But if they’re feeling well, being at school and arriving on time gives them the best chance to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Here are our attendance policies:

  • Our school day begins at 7:45 AM.
  • Any arrival after 8:00 AM or before the end of the school day is considered a partial absence and will count as unexcused unless you have a medical/ counselor note.
  • If your child is sick, please call the school nurse or office to notify us. They can be excused by a medical professional or by our nurse, Mrs. Garrett, if she assesses them.
  • If your child is absent, notify the school by phone or email. The district policy will allow up to 3 excused "notified" absences for things like unexpected sicknesses.
  • To have an absence excused by a professional, bring to school or email (ssims@mfisd.org) a note from a doctor, dentist, or counselor.

For unexcused absences:
You will receive an automated district email when your child has three unexcused absences. After five to seven unexcused absences, you'll get another notification and a call from the school to sign a Truancy Prevention Form. On the 10th unexcused absence, your child is considered truant.

This policy applies to all students enrolled in public school, ages 3 and older.

If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Carpenter or Mrs. Brantley. Let's work together to ensure your child is on time and ready to learn!

End of Day:

Students will be released at 3:15 pm.

RIDE CHANGES: If you have a ride change, notify Sarah Sims at ssims@mfisd.org.

Send a ride change email BEFORE 2:45pm.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE EVERY TIME THERE IS A CHANGE. Following this procedure for ride changes is necessary to ensure that students go to the correct pick-up place for dismissal.
