Battle of the Cans Flyer

Battle of the Cans

Battle of the Cans starts this Wednesday! Bring your cans to school so we can beat those Bulldogs!

Our collection dates will be Wednesday, September 24th, through Wednesday, October 8th.

The game will be Friday, October 10th in Burnet.

We will again count items, so every can matters!

MAP Family Reports (K-5th)

This past couple of weeks, students have been completing our beginning of the year testing screeners. This gives teachers the ability to create small groups and create goals for students based on this information.

Kinder-5th grade should have sent home a family report that shows your child's scores.

We are very proud of how hard they worked.

GT Testing Window

The Gifted & Talented (GT) testing window will open September 22 and close on October 3.
Families interested in referring a student for GT testing must:
  • Pick up a referral form from, Ms. Orts, our GT teacher.
  • Return the completed form no later than October 3.

Please note: Referrals will only be accepted during this testing window. Any forms received after October 3 will be held for the Fall 2026 testing window.

Thank you for your support in helping us identify and serve our gifted learners!

Attendance Matters

Regular school attendance is key to your child's success. Here are some key points:

  • Our school day begins at 7:45 AM.
  • Any arrival after 8:00 AM is considered a partial absence and will count as unexcused unless you have a doctor note.
  • If your child is sick, please call the school nurse or office to notify us. They can be excused by a medical professional or if by our nurse, Mrs. Garrett, if she assesses them.
  • To have an absence excused by a professional, bring to school or email (ssims@mfisd.org) a note from a doctor, dentist, or counselor.

For unexcused absences:
You will receive an automated district email when your child has three unexcused absences. After five to seven unexcused absences, you'll get another notification and a call from the school to sign a Truancy Prevention Form. On the 10th unexcused absence, your child is considered truant.

This policy applies to all students enrolled in public school, ages 3 and older.

If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Carpenter or Mrs. Brantley. Let's work together to ensure your child is on time and ready to learn!

End of Day:

Students will be released at 3:15 pm.

RIDE CHANGES: If you have a ride change, notify Sarah Sims at ssims@mfisd.org.

Send a ride change email BEFORE 2:45pm.

**We are now in full swing with students doing different modes of transportation as they have activities after school such as ACE, soccer, dance, etc.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE EVERY TIME THERE IS A CHANGE. Following this procedure for ride changes is necessary to ensure that students go to the correct pick-up place for dismissal.
